Six Dimensions’ work is realized through three interconnected areas of service: research, training & development, and outreach & advocacy. Each of our areas of services aim to achieve our goal of improving maternal health outcomes.
Research is the foundation for the development of evidence-based public health practices. Six Dimensions understands that ethical, equitable, and community-centered research is necessary to produce quality results. We aim to ensure that research and evaluation efforts are rooted in equity with respect to historical trauma; uplift the voice of the community; and are translated into quality practice and advocacy strategies.
Our training aims to ensure that early career professionals and seasoned practitioners have the knowledge and skills to address maternal health through an equity and justice lens.
We aim to establish partnerships and relationships with community and community organizations in an effort to ensure that we understand the needs of our communities while also finding ways to address those needs immediately and long-term. We engage in activities that respond to and support the immediate and emerging needs of the community through education, advocacy, resource sharing, and simply showing up with and for and with Black women and families.
We aim to support a more inclusive society that listens to, supports, and empowers Black women throughout their pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum journeys. Our advocacy work aims to amplify the voices of Black women, promote education on maternal health, and push for research and programs designed to improve maternal health outcomes in Black communities. Key efforts include advocating for better data collection on maternal health inequities, and pushing for legislative changes that can improve outcomes.
